Sometimes blessings present themselves in mysterious ways!
When I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, my dreams of becoming an English literature
professor were replaced with a lifelong search for health, happiness, and spiritual awareness. The
road was not always smooth. Each medical challenge and surgery made the journey of becoming
a “Wellness Educator” and president of my company, Target Health Systems, Inc., that much
more difficult…that much more urgent. The personal challenges – surviving my divorces and coming
to terms with the “rules” I had stubbornly adopted to be the perfect “everything” – made the
journey of becoming a compassionate but assertive woman more necessary. The dichotomy between
the masculine and feminine roles, as I saw them, became more confusing. Was I the “masculine”
persona of my creative father/entrepreneur or the “feminine” counterpart of my sweet, nurturing
mother? Knowing now that I can be both, I honor whoever I am at any moment in time – a mom,
a lover, an entrepreneur, a warrior, a woman, a child, an educator, a gypsy, a student of life, an
evolving spirit – I strive to love them all.
As I look back on my 62 years, I feel so blessed to be where I am, having the guidance to paint the
dreams of my future! I am on my path – a continual, sacred journey of learning and sharing what
I have learned. My fondest achievement is the Wise Women’s Journey to Inn-Lightenment, that
I host every year. I believe I am here on this earth to bring people together to share, to heal, to
celebrate ways to reach far beyond whatever was thought possible – to say, “I believe I am worthy
to accomplish great things…personally, professionally, financially and spiritually.”
Being “Fearless,” and holding the sword, symbolizes to me my place of inner strength, my sacred
place filled with a passion for living life to its fullest. My prayer is that everyday I will open my
heart to love and forgiveness, be awakened by the beauty and joy surrounding me, be attentive and
humbled by the lessons from the messengers God sends me (thank you, dear sons). And also, I must
remember: when I laugh, it feels like champagne bubbles exploding through my body. Life is too
beautiful to be too serious and not to enjoy every bubble!
Fearless Wisdom:
Jump fearlessly into the current of God’s blessings
and be carried joyously to a place of peace, passion…and wonder!
Welcome to the Fearless Women Revolution!
In her extraordinary photography book, Fearless Women, Fearless Wisdom, internationally acclaimed author and photographer Mary Ann Halpin has brought together 40 female entrepreneurs from across the country to celebrate their courage and strength in having worked through their fears to achieve great personal and professional success. This fine art coffee table book portrays each woman holding a sword of courage, revealing the stories of how they have transformed their challenges into triumphs. From childhood trauma, physical and emotional illness, to near financial devastation, these courageous women are mirrors and examples for us all. Their stories show us that in order to create conscious change within, we must face our fears and walk through them. Their portraits are visual reminders of their personal courage.
Following each story is a Fearless Wisdom quote that imparts a heartfelt belief and a soul-inspiring gift. The back of the book holds a dedication page for a fearless friend, sister or mother to place their picture and share their own fearless experience.
Each woman in this book will use its promotion as a vehicle to raise awareness and support for their most impassioned cause and beloved charity. Having had a 42 year experience with the disease Ulcerative Colitis (UC), Peggy Kinst, one of the forty women sharing her story in the Chicago area, is dedicated to educating people about this disease, the surgical options available, like the BCIR (www.bcir.com) and the support organizations like the Quality of Life Assn (www.qla-ostomy.org) and the Crohns & Colitis Foundation of America, (www.ccfa.org), Peggy hopes to use the Fearless Women book to raise awareness and donate proceeds from the sale of the Fearless Women, Fearless Wisdom book to allow for more education and support of UC patients. Peggy is asking you to help her spread the news of this “cause” to help prevent people especially our young adults from suffering more than necessary from this disease. Please help Peggy with media suggestions…radio, television, internet, newspapers, connections to people who are doctors, experts, UC organizations and charity groups that can help Peggy help those with UC.
